Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) Consultation Call Program

About the Program:

This no-cost opportunity is designed for clinicians seeking TF-CBT certification, but you’re welcome to participate even if certification isn’t your goal. Our main aim is to help you use the TF-CBT model with competence and fidelity, ultimately improving outcomes for the children you serve. For specifics on certification, be sure to visit https://tfcbt.org/certification/ and check out the FAQs at https://tfcbt.org/faqs/. Please note, Centene does not provide certification—you’ll need to go through https://tfcbt.org for that process.

This program lets you learn directly from expert trainers and therapists within a small group, gaining skills to apply the TF-CBT model effectively. Once you complete the consultation calls, you’ll be positioned to apply and test for certification.

Program Details:

  • The Consultation Call Program features thirteen scheduled, one-hour phone calls led by an approved National TF-CBT Trainer, occurring twice monthly over approximately six months. Calls are held Monday through Friday during business hours. Each group will have 7 to 12 participants.
  • All calls are conducted via Zoom, and you’ll need to join with your webcam enabled.

Participation Requirements:

  • Be a contracted provider, work for a contracted agency, or be in the credentialing process.
  • Hold a master’s degree or higher in a mental health or counseling discipline.
  • Have professional licensure in your home state or be under supervision for licensure.
  • Be actively treating children exposed to trauma.
  • Have attended a live, two-day TF-CBT training with an approved national trainer hosted by a Centene health plan.
  • Understand you must complete consultation within two years of the live training to qualify for National Certification.
  • Remember that Centene does not provide certification; you must apply through the model developer’s website.
  • During the first three calls, identify at least two or three cases in which you’ll implement the TF-CBT model—clients must be under 18 years old when starting TF-CBT.
  • After the first few calls, you’ll present one or more de-identified cases using the provided TF-CBT Case Information Form.
  • Be prepared to use one standardized trauma assessment during treatment (assessments will be discussed during the first call).
  • Be willing, if requested, to participate in a brief follow-up quality improvement evaluation regarding your training experience with TF-CBT.

Call Program Structure:

The program begins with an Intro Call to answer your questions, clarify the process, discuss trauma assessments, and review TF-CBT Therapist Certification Program criteria. Calls #2-13 take place twice a month for six months. To receive credit, you must participate in at least nine calls within this series. If you miss three calls, you’ll be automatically withdrawn from the group.

To sign up, simply choose your preferred day and time in the "Courses" link on the left side. Please only register for ONE group, and only if you’re absolutely certain you can commit. If you’re unsure, please let someone else have the spot—these groups fill quickly. Remember to review the times carefully, as clinicians from various time zones will be participating.
