Policies and Procedures

The mission of the Centene Institute for Advanced Health Education (“Centene Institute”) is to educate teams of healthcare professionals through empowering, research-informed content that aims to improve the skills, strategy, and performance of the healthcare team, patient quality of care, and health outcomes of the community.
 
In support of our mission and alignment with Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education, we have developed the following policies on how to plan, coordinate and implement clinical continuing education to advance the knowledge, competence, skills, and/or abilities of clinicians.
 
 
CI.01 - Interprofessional Continuing Education for Internal & External Audiences
This policy intends to define operational procedures for planning and implementing clinical education activities to provide clinical best practice continuing education, while also meeting the standards for accredited continuing education.
 
CI.02 - Independence Standards - Clinically Valid Content
This policy aims to align and comply with Standard 1 of the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education to ensure that all content of the Centene Institute’s interprofessional continuing education program is clinically valid, fair and balanced and that any clinical content presented supports safe, effective patient care.
 
CI.03 - Independence Standards - Preventing Commercial Bias and Marketing
This policy aims to align and comply with Standard 2 of the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education to protect learners of Centene Institute’s interprofessional continuing education program from commercial bias and marketing.
 
CI.04 - Independence Standards - Identify, Mitigate, and Disclose Relevant Financial Relationships
This policy aims to align and comply with Standard 3 of the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education to identify, mitigate, and disclose relevant financial relationships pertinent to any content of Centene Institute’s interprofessional continuing education program to protect all learners from commercial bias.
 
CI.05 - Independence Standards - Managing Commercial Support
This policy aims to align and comply with Standard 4 of the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education to manage commercial support appropriately for all Centene Institute’s interprofessional continuing education program to protect all learners from commercial bias.
 
CI.06 - Independence Standards - Managing Ancillary Activities Offered in Conjunction with Education
This policy aims to align and comply with Standard 5 of the ACCME Standards for Integrity and Independence in Accredited Continuing Education to ensure that all education supported by the Centene Institute is separate from marketing by ineligible companies, including advertising, sales, exhibits, and promotion to protect all learners from commercial bias.
