World Elder Abuse Awareness Day (WEAAD) is observed each year on June 15 to raise awareness of the abuse, neglect, and exploitation of older adults and to promote a better understanding of the cultural, social, and systemic factors that contribute to elder mistreatment worldwide.
In recognition of WEAAD, the Sunshine Health Long Term Care Clinical Training Team in Florida invites providers, caregivers, and community partners to participate in a special one-day webinar series, with three live training sessions offered throughout the day on Monday, June 15. Each session will offer the same content, allowing participants to attend at a time that best fits their schedule.
Featured Training
Abuse, Neglect & Exploitation of Vulnerable Adults
Participants will learn who is considered a vulnerable adult, how to recognize the signs, symptoms, and risk factors of abuse, neglect, and exploitation, and practical strategies to support prevention and early intervention. The training also reviews ethical and legal responsibilities for reporting abuse and adverse incidents in Florida.
