Trauma-Informed Child Welfare 101: Essential Elements 3 and 4
This training will cover essential elements 3 and 4. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network defines a trauma informed child welfare system as one that partners with children, youth, and families as well as agencies and systems that interact with children, youth, and families.

Target Audience
Foster Care and Child Welfare professionals and stakeholders. Unlicensed and licensed behavioral health professionals including but not limited to, social workers, graduate-level counselors, therapists, and substance use professionals. Unlicensed and licensed health care professionals including, but not limited to, nurses.
Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.

- Define lived expertise and partnership within the context of the child welfare system.
- Understand the distinctions among engagement, involvement, and partnership.
- Identify barriers to achieving partnership and strategies to employ when partnership is not possible.
