Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment An Implementation Guide for Oklahoma Health Care Providers
This is an OKLAHOMA specific training.
Attendees will gain clinical knowledge and skills to implement the use of SBIRT in their practice. This training advances and enhances the education of the audience by focusing on screening and referral to treatment for alcohol and substance use in patients in a health care setting. It discusses skills for implementing a brief intervention with clients after the screening is complete. Lastly, this training reviews documentation guidelines for documenting the SBIRT process.

Target Audience
This training is for OKALAHOMA providers only.
Licensed behavioral health professionals including, but not limited to, social workers, graduate-level counselors, therapists, and substance use professionals. Licensed health care professionals including, but not limited to, nurses.
Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.
Learning Objectives
- Define SBIRT and its 6 components.
- Identify 5 screening tools for adults and 5 screening tools for adolescents.
- Demonstrate a brief intervention between a provider and a member.
- Discuss 2 referral to treatment options.
- List general guidelines for documenting SBIRT.
