Atypical Antipsychotics: Metabolic Monitoring for Child Welfare Involved Youth (Foster Care COE)
Activity Description
Many youth in the United States are being prescribed second-generation antipsychotic medications. Youth who are in or have been in foster care are at a higher risk of being prescribed antipsychotics. These medications are associated with an increased risk of medical complications, which adds to the increase in medical problems in this population. In this course, participants will learn the monitoring guidelines for antipsychotics. Following these guidelines can help the healthcare team decrease the risk of problems through early identification.
