Eating Disorders: A Comprehensive Overview
The overarching purpose of the training is to raise awareness of these diagnoses and what can be done to recognize and treat them. Make the case to participants that these issues can impair functioning and can even be fatal, so they have a responsibility as healthcare professionals to be educated on detection and treatment.
This training begins with raising awareness of the issue of eating disorders to make the case that healthcare professionals need to be aware of eating disorders. It moves into how to recognize the problems through identification of risk factors, warning signs, screening, and assessment. Then it moves into the clinical diagnostic criteria. The course then covers prevention and treatment information. The course provides opportunities for questions, discussion, and practice.
