That Makes Sensory: Understanding Sensory Processing Differences in Children

May 12, 2026

This training will give parents and professionals a deeper understanding of what sensory processing is, its’ importance, and what it means when a child has a dysfunctional sensory system. Participants will learn the basics about the sensory motor loop, the eight senses in sensory processing, the different types of dysfunction, and how a dysfunctional sensory system impacts children’s roles and routines both at home and in school. Participants will learn who can assist with sensory processing differences, and will be educated on “red flag” behaviors that when identified, may indicate need for a referral to a specialist who works with children with sensory differences. Participants will also be given information on play-based activities that help children grow healthy sensory systems, but that do not replace skilled intervention, in an effort to reduce modern day cultural facilitation of sensory dysfunction.

If you need ADA Accommodations, please email us with the name and date of the training at least 3 weeks in advance at: [email protected].
