A Caregiver's Approach to Positive and Adverse Behaviors

This training will teach caregivers practical strategies they can use to help reduce the likelihood or intensity of an adverse behavior. Attendees will learn how to foster positive relationships and behaviors with those they care for. Attendees will also learn about practical strategies they can use to help remove barriers to adverse behaviors and to help support them in working with those they care for in a compassionate, respectful manner. Attendees will be provided with resources to support them in their ongoing relationship with those they care for.

Target Audience

Unpaid and Partially Paid Family/Natural Caregivers.

Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the purpose of behaviors.
  • Define adverse behaviors and positive behaviors.
  • Apply the steps of the ABC Model.
  • Identify two strategies for fostering positive behaviors and relationships.
