All In: An Overview of Building a Healthcare Culture of Accessibility, Respect, and Inclusion

During this course, providers and their staff will gain a holistic understanding of how to support self-determination and choice, improve accessibility, and increase inclusivity. The training highlights the importance of these concepts to meet the needs of the person through your service delivery and ongoing self-evaluation of knowledge, methods, and practices. Providers and their staff will be introduced to the various mindsets, attitudes and other factors that can promote or hinder an individual’s active participation and access to inclusive care. Providers and their staff will also learn relevant skills & actionable strategies that improve the individual’s experience and care. In addition, this training will equip learners with valuable resources and tools to support their ongoing development in creating and maintaining accessible and inclusive practices.

Target Audience

Unlicensed and licensed LTSS professionals and stakeholders including, but not limited to, direct care workers, administrators, facility staff, home health staff, nursing aides. Unlicensed and licensed behavioral health professionals including, but not limited to, social workers, graduate-level counselors, therapists, and substance use professionals. Unlicensed and licensed health care professionals including, but not limited to, nurses.

Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify 7 common type of barriers people with disabilities face in health care settings.
  • Explain the concepts of self-determination & choice, accessibility, and inclusion as they relate to service delivery for individuals with disabilities.
  • Identify at least 3 areas to increase self-determination & choice, accessibility, and inclusion in your current setting.   
  • Commit to at least 2 actions you will take to enhance self-determination & choice, accessibility, and inclusion in your environment.
