Championing Mental Health In Our Community

The purpose of this training is for attendees to increase their understanding of mental health and the impact of mental health conditions on individuals, their work and community. Attendees will learn about the prevalence of mental health conditions, warning signs, myths vs facts and stigma. Suicide prevention strategies and tips to promote mental and emotional well-being will also be discussed.

Target Audience

Unlicensed and licensed LTSS professionals and stakeholders including, but not limited to, direct care workers, administrators, facility staff, home health staff, nursing aides. Unlicensed and licensed behavioral health professionals including, but not limited to, social workers, graduate-level counselors, therapists, and substance use professionals. Unlicensed and licensed health care professionals including, but not limited to, nurses.

Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.

Learning Objectives

  • Define mental health and identify 3 factors that contribute to mental health conditions.
  • List at least 2 early warning signs and 3 symptoms of at least 1 mental health condition.
  • Distinguish mental health facts vs. myths.
  • Learn 3 ways to fight mental health stigma.
  • Identify tips for creating a mental health-friendly workplace.
  • Recognize at least 3 warning signs and risk factors for suicide.
  • List at least 4 tools to promote wellness and 1 treatment option.
