Fall Prevention for Caregivers

The purpose of this training is to bring awareness to the importance of preventing falls and for caregivers to know and be able to identify factors that contribute to falls and what steps are recommended after a fall has occurred. Caregivers will also learn about practical strategies that can be implemented to mitigate the effect of falls on the health and wellbeing of older adults in our communities. This training also provides added informational resources to support the caregiver through empowerment and information.

Target Audience

Unpaid and Partially Paid Family/Natural Caregivers.

Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the importance of falls and fall prevention.
  • Identify at least 3 examples of factors that lead to falls.
  • List at least 3 strategies that can be used to help reduce the risk of falls.
  • Describe at least 4 fall prevention resources that can support caregivers.
