The Impact of Trauma

Attendees will review the definition of trauma, its prevalence and the impact trauma has in the community. Attendees will also be introduced to trauma informed care and resources available to address trauma.

Target Audience

Foster Care and Child Welfare professionals and stakeholders. Unlicensed and licensed behavioral health professionals including but not limited to, social workers, graduate-level counselors, therapists, and substance use professionals. Unlicensed and licensed health care professionals including, but not limited to, nurses.

Foster Parents, Kinship Parents, and Caregivers.

Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.

Learning Objectives

  • Define what is trauma.
  • Gain awareness of the prevalence of trauma in our communities.
  • Become aware of the effects of trauma.
  • Learn about Trauma Informed Care.
  • Become aware of resources to address trauma.
