Person-First and Inclusive Communication in Healthcare
This is a 90-minute training that discusses the importance of utilizing person-first language and inclusive communication in healthcare. This course will advance the education of the audience by giving specific examples and scenarios for how to destigmatize language in a healthcare setting. This presentation is designed to advance and enhance the education of graduate-level counselors by equipping them with essential skills and knowledge that align with best practices in both person-first language and strength-based framework, and ensuring cultural competence in public health communication. By integrating the course objectives, the presentation ensures that graduate-level counselors are better prepared to deliver culturally competent and empathetic care, use language that promotes dignity and empowerment, and apply health equity principles effectively.
