Post Traumatic Stress Disorder

This course teaches the diagnosis of PTSD and how it relates to children in the child welfare system. It discusses the re-experiencing of traumatic events, incidents that exacerbate PTSD and protective factors to decrease symptoms.

Foster Parents, Kinship Parents, and Caregivers.

Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.

Learning Objectives

  • Identify traumatic events that may lead to post-traumatic stress disorder.
  • Learn ways in which children experience traumatic events more than once.
  • Recognize factors that increase post-traumatic stress disorder and also protective factors.
