Texas-Superior HealthPlan Foster Care Centers of Excellence- Q3 2026: Exploring Fostering Health's Updates: Identifying and Applying Best Practices to Improve Outcomes
Children and adolescents in foster care experience disproportionately high rates of chronic medical conditions, developmental delays, mental health concerns, trauma exposure, and unmet healthcare needs. This session will provide pediatric healthcare providers with updated, evidence-informed guidance from the latest edition of Fostering Health to enhance the delivery of comprehensive, trauma-informed care for this vulnerable population. Participants will gain practical strategies for conducting timely health assessments, coordinating care across healthcare and child welfare systems, addressing the unique needs of children entering and residing in foster care, and supporting caregivers and families. By strengthening clinicians' knowledge of current recommendations and best practices, this session will improve the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of healthcare services provided to children and youth in foster care, ultimately promoting better health, developmental, and permanency outcomes.
