Trauma 101
This is an individualized webinar for A Promising Journey. An individualized webinar is scheduled for a specific group in which learners attend using their own device in the same or different locations.
All learners must register for the training prior to the start of the training.
Trauma 101 training curriculum is for all segments of the child welfare workforce that focuses on understanding the types of trauma and their impact on those who experience it; how trauma intersects with safety, permanency, and well-being; and the critical role of resilience in helping children, youth, and families heal.

Target Audience
Residential staff and caregivers.
Practice Level: Beginner and/or Intermediate.
Learning Objectives
- Define acute, chronic, complex, racial, historical, and intergenerational trauma
- Recognize the relationship between a child’s lifetime trauma history and their behaviors and responses
- Understand how cultural factors influence how a child may identify, interpret, and respond to traumatic events
- Understand how traumatic experiences affect development throughout the lifespan
- Recognize the importance of trauma-informed practices in achieving safety, permanency, and well-being for children and families in the child welfare system
- Identify internal and external factors that promote healing and resilience among children who have been impacted by trauma
